
Mount Mahawu is a stratovolcano located immediately east from Lokon-Empung volcano in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The volcano is capped with 180 m wide and 140 m deep crater with two pyroclastic cones in the northern flanks. A small explosive eruption was recorded in 1789. In 1994, fumaroles, mudpots and small geysers activities were observed along the greenish shore of a crater lake. From the top of the mountain, visitors can see the view of Lokon crater, Mount Empung, Tomohon City, Manado City, Bitung City, Tondano City and several other mountains and superb natural panoramic view. Mahawu is an active volcano and 1.311 meter above sea level with a small volcanic lake that change color sometimes. Around this area there is a forest for bird watching to see Sulawesi Pitta, Scaly Breast King Fisher and other kind of birds. Rp. 750.000/pax.
